INCOMPAS to FCC: Time to Kick Start Net Neutrality Action

Leading Internet and Streaming Trade Association Files Petition for Reconsideration at FCC to Help Consumers and Small Business Recovery

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 5, 2021) – It’s time to get open internet rules back on the books to protect consumers and small businesses that want the green light to innovate. That’s the message from INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, representing local fiber builders, streaming services, social media and internet innovators who want to see open internet protections put back on the books.

In filing its Petition for Reconsideration at the FCC, INCOMPAS highlights the lack of competition in the broadband market and how this threatens streaming prices and growth. The Petition also points to infrastructure issues, such as pole attachments, and highlights the ongoing threat to public safety absent open internet protections.

In addition to the Petition, Chip Pickering, CEO of INCOMPAS, released the following statement:

“An open internet is essential to opening up the next internet revolution. It’s time for the FCC to right a wrong, look to the future and listen to the overwhelming majority of Americans who support bipartisan open internet protections.

“The streaming and cloud revolution has brought jobs and economic growth. As innovators on Main Street look to recover, they are looking to the internet. Policy makers have the power to light their path to more competition by eliminating the threat of roadblocks, gatekeepers and price hike threats by Big ISPs.”
