Q: Please tell us about your company history. When was it founded? How has the company evolved since its founding? Have your services changed? Are there key milestones in your company’s history and growth that you can highlight?
Norcast was founded in June of 1999 as an interconnect company providing telephone systems. The company became a CLEC in May of 2003 providing business telephone and Internet services including hosted telephone service. Since becoming a CLEC Norcast has grown and merged with Blue Rooster Telecom in 2014. The company now serves several thousand customers in LATA 740 and employs a staff of about 30 telecom professionals.

Q: Please tell us about company’s top executives and the work that they are doing in our industry.
Michael Gayaldo - CEO has worked for Call America, Harris Corporation, and GST Telecom before joining Norcast.
Jeff Buckingham – President has worked with Call America and co-founded two other CLECs, Call America II and Blue Rooster Telecom as well as working with GST Telecom and New Edge networks. Jeff is a former CompTel Board Member and has serves on the Caltel Board since 1984 including several terms as President.
Cheryl Lovell – COO has worked at Call America, GST Telecom and New Edge Networks as well as co-founding Call America II and Blue Rooster Telecom. Cheryl has also provided management consulting services and co-produced the Caltel Summer Seminar for 10 years.

Q: Explain your geographic reach. Where do you provide services?
Norcast provides services primarily in LATA 740, San Luis Obispo & Santa Barbara counties in California.

Q: What types of services do you offer your customers?
Norcast provides telephone systems include hosted telephone service as well as traditional business telephone and Internet service.

Q: What is your target customer base? Please include names of prominent customers and case study details.
Norcast provides service to business customers in our local area.

Q: What are the biggest challenges that your company faces and how is your company overcoming these challenges?
Norcast’s biggest challenge is working with the industry to provide adequate last mile access of sufficient speed to business customers as their needs expand.

Q: What are your competitive opportunities and threats?
Norcast’s strength is great customer service and long term relationships with customers. The biggest threat is always unanticipated regulatory change.

Q: How is technology/new products and services impacting your business model?
Norcast takes advantage of the latest Ethernet over Copper and fiber technologies.

Q: Have you recently acquired new customers? Entered new markets? Added new services/products?
Norcast and Blue Rooster Telecom merged in 2014.

Q: Describe your relationship with INCOMPAS. How long have you been a member. Why did you decide to join the association?
The principles of Norcast have been members of CompTel and INCOMPAS for 30 years and we support the association as a way of ensuring a bright future for our industry.
